Set within Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, this project required us to design and supply a fully compliant EN81:3 100kg BKG Dumbwaiter Service Lift on behalf of Caltech Lifts.
The Copper Still is located between Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace and is moments away from the historic St Giles Cathedral and Parliament Square and where you can sit outside watching the buskers. This new establishment promises ‘drinks with a difference’ and focuses only on delivering the freshest high-quality Scottish produce for their customers.
Highly reliable and robust solution
After undergoing an extensive refurbishment, Copper Still required a food lift to transport meals between the kitchen and bar on a regular basis and approached Caltech for a solution. Opting for the highly reliable and robust BKG Dumbwaiter Service Lift, we were able to supply our 100kg Advantage Dumbwaiter lift model.
Having extensive experience with our BKG Advantage model, Caltech were able to quickly build a specification which they knew would work for the client and application.
Key elements were:
- Quick lead time – With our Advantage models being available ex-stock, we were able to deliver the lift on the agreed date just three weeks after receipt of the order.
- Bi-Parting Car Door Protection – To protect the food and drinks to be transported and as an additional hygiene measure, Bi-Parting Car Doors were provided as an optional extra.
- Additional Car Shelf – To provide extra carrying capacity within the lift car to maximise the items that can be carried in a single trip.

After visiting their customer to see how well they were doing since their last visit, the Copper Still was delighted to remark “yes, what a difference it makes.” (Copper Still, Instagram)
