BBC Breakfast Discussing Q1 Economic Growth.

We were delighted to see our Director, Kiran Fothergill, appear on BBC Breakfast offering insight into the challenges and opportunities facing UK businesses as the first quarter GDP figures were due to be announced.

Speaking as part of a broader segment on business confidence and economic performance, Kiran highlighted that while we have seen a strong start to the year, the current environment still presents significant challenges for companies nationwide.

Shortly after the programme aired, it was confirmed that the UK economy grew by 0.7% in Q1 2025, exceeding forecasts of 0.6% and offering a welcome boost to confidence in the manufacturing and services sectors.

Kiran’s inclusion in the BBC’s coverage reflects the growing recognition of Shorts’ position in the industry, and our team was proud to contribute to the national conversation at such a key moment.

“It’s important for policymakers and the public to hear directly from businesses navigating this landscape every day,” Kiran said following the interview. “There’s progress, but we also need to be realistic about the ongoing challenges.”

The full interview aired on BBC Breakfast and is available on the BBC iPlayer. A short clip from the segment is available below.
