Machinery Directive Compliant Passenger Lifts
Any Passenger carrying lifts installed in the UK and Europe that operate at speeds of 0.15m/s or below do not fall under the remit of the EU Lifts Directive. These “Slow Lifts” are subject to the dictates of the EU Machinery Directive (Directive 2006/42/EC). This directive covers all of the same essential health and safety requirements as the Lifts Directive but is less restrictive on the dimensional constraints of the lift shaft. As a consequence, these Machinery Directive Passenger Lifts can be installed in any lift shaft with reduced headroom or pit clearances, in both new and existing buildings.
Shorts offer three distinct “Slow” passenger lift ranges that are designed to comply with the Machinery Directive which allows their application to any buildings with shallow pits or low headrooms.
Using components from some of Europe’s leading manufacturers together with a unique sling design, the ML-MD range provides UK and Irish Lift companies with a high quality solution to an increasingly common regulatory problem.
The ML-LD Range consists of 8 lifts ranging in capacity from 225 to 1600kg that can be installed in shafts with pits as shallow as 150mm and headrooms as low as 2500mm. They are designed to comply with the Machinery Directive, for application in new or existing buildings.
