Shorts have the Solution - The complete A3 solution!
In accordance with EN81-1/2:1998 + A3:2009 and EN81-21 as of January 2012 all new lifts must be equipped with a safety device to stop unintended car movement away from the landing with the landing door not in the locked position and the car door not in the closed position. This is commonly referred to as UCM or Unintended Car Movement. It also follows that passengers should be afforded the same degree of safety when using an existing lift as when using a new lift, making a strong case for the refurbishment of existing lifts to be carried out in accordance with the new standard (Amendment 3) wherever “reasonable and practicable”.
Our complete system is certified by one TUV certificate which covers all the component parts when used together, this means that the complete solution is guaranteed to comply with the requirements of the A3 amendment without the need for further testing.
We can also supply you with individually certified A3 Components for inclusion in your own solution which must then be tested as a complete system by an appropriate body.
THE COMPLETE SYSTEM CONSISTS OF THREE ELEMENTS

Overspeed Governor with integrated UCM Detection Device
·Choice of Pulley Diameter (200mm or 300mm)
·Tripping Speeds Ranging from 0.5 mps to 2.16 mps
·Choice of Pit Mounted or Guide Mounted Tension Weights
Each A3 compliant Overspeed Governor is fitted with a TUV Certified UCM device that detects uncontrolled movement of the lift car and trips the overspeed governor should uncontrolled movement occur when the lift is stopped at floor level with the lift car doors open.
The UCM device is certified for compliance with EN81-1:2001+A3 & EN 81-21 by TUV Rheinland (certificate number CM/013/11) & patented. Further technical information is given on the TUV certificate available for download on our website

Electronic Control Module UCM100
The Gervall UCM100 control module is the interface between the lift controller (existing or new) and the UCM device fitted to the Overspeed Governor.
The interface module receives input signals relating to the status of the lift doors and the floor level status of the lift; and controls the supply to the coil of the UCM device on the Overspeed Governor accordingly. Batteries are supplied for use in the event of a power failure and if the controller does not have outputs relating to the floor level status of the lift, we can provide you with an independent floor positioning kit to provide the required signals.

Bi-Directional Progressive Safety Gear
Our Progressive Safety Gears models M-245; M-247; M-290 have all been tested and certified by TUV Rheinland, in accordance with clause 9.11 of EN 81-1:2001 +A3:2010 as a compliant method of braking and maintaining the position of the lift car, The TUV certificate verifies that these safety gears can perform the required functions of Amendment A3 in upwards and downwards direction at very low speeds and with very small braking distances. Available for a load capacity P+Q (Lift Car + Load) of up to 4245KG
