Shorts Industries Limited is a trade supplier of engineering products and solutions for large domestic, commercial and industrial buildings. The company is part of a privately owned group of companies, Read Holdings Limited - a British owned, fifth generation family group.
Shorts Industries has been operating since 1945, originally established as a manufacturer of passenger and service lifts Shorts has a long history working within the lift industry.
To reflect the wider aims for development of Shorts Industries, the company name was changed to Shorts Industries Limted in early 1997 and Shorts Lifts and Shorts Environmental were formed as trading divisions.
Over the years the dedicated lift division initially trading as Shorts, has built up an excellent reputation for supplying quality products and a high quality service distributing lifts and components into the UK lift installation industry.
Recently Shorts Industries Limited has developed its business proposition to supply low carbon building service systems to the UK's green building industry, through Shorts Low Carbon Building Services.
Shorts Industries Limited operate on a UK-wide basis with sales and support offices in Bradford, West Yorkshire and Bromley, Kent. The company’s main warehouse and distribution centre is located in Bradford.
As a reflection of the high quality service that Shorts provides to its customers, the Company has been certified to ISO9001:2000. In addition Shorts is certified to The Lifts Regulations 1997: Schedule 12 and is a full member of the Lift and Escalator Industry Association (LEIA).
